// About

My name is Matt Farmer.

I am a software developer specializing in Website Application Development. I will graduate from the University of Georgia in May of 2011 with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. I first learned HTML thirteen years ago, and it’s been downhill ever since. My software development specialty is in PHP Web Applications, and I will argue to the grave that interpreted languages rock for Web Applications. Additionally, I have some degree of experience in most popular languages, including Ruby, Java, Python, C/C++. As you would expect, I also have a wealth of experience around JavaScript and Cascading Style Sheets. Additionally, I’ve had experience in administering production level Linux servers (all virtualized, but I’ve built my own boxes before as well) and their applications (Apache, svnserve, gitolite, etc).

I have a myriad of different side projects that I use to occupy my free time that isn’t spent just shooting the breeze or playing Minecraft on my friend’s server. These projects encompass many different areas of technology including game design, Android app development, Linux system administration, etc. You can find information on many of these, in addition to my work experience, on my portfolio site.

I use a Mac for my personal computer, because I do think that it is one of the few Unix based operating systems that has a tolerable User Interface – although since then Ubuntu and others have made some pretty good strides forward.

This blog serves as a collection of my thoughts on the technology industry, or whatever catches my eye as I travel the internet. This site is powered by WordPress. I’m a programmer, and not a graphic designer, so I have to give a tip of my hat over to the people at WooThemes for the visual design. I’ve made some of my own modifications, but by and large it’s still their work.

My title for this blog is based off of a nickname that I’ve had for several years, and this is a domain I first acquired freshman year of college.

I hope you enjoy reading, and don’t hesitate to contact me!
