Greetings and welcome to the new Farmdawg Nation. As I’m sure you’ve realized by now we’ve got a new look running the show here. Once again I picked an excellent selection from my friends over at WooThemes. Yes, this is another free template. If you have a problem with that – consider donating money to the “Matt has to pay the server bills” fund. It would be greatly appreciated.
I opted for this redesign for a number of reasons.

  1. I have recently felt that some of the themes out there, including the previous one I employed, are all bang and no buck. They’re very flashy, but don’t really amplify the content. I looked for something that was more minimalistic, even magazine-ish in nature because I want to try and emphasize what matters on this blog: the writing.
  2. I was getting tired at looking at the hideous logo that I was using for the site title that (for some reason unbeknownst to me) wouldn’t match my background for the life of me. Even using the same Photoshop source files!!
  3. I think this design is a lot more “me”.

So, I hope you’ll bear with me over the next few days as I’m reshuffling and shifting things around. There are currently some sections of the site that are inaccessible through any means of sensible navigation (most notably, the projects pages). I assure you that I am aware of these issues and I will be sorting them out as quickly as possible.

Until such a time as everything is finalized, expect there to be many situations of duplicate content, missing content, etc, etc – and probably a few pages that still have the old theme. I utilize a Supercache on this server to make the page load faster for you, and it may be awhile before the entire cache is rebuilt after I get the actual layout finalized.

I’ve also got a few other changes that are in the works as well. Most importantly, making the move from Lightbox to Highslide. If you haven’t realized that this is like a new toy for me yet, there’s no other way for me to explain it. However, I hope you’ll bear with me as I work the kinks out and (try) to get back into writing regularly. As always, leave some comment love about the new look (and I’m open to sidebar arrangement suggestions as well!)
